On the sidelines of the Coordination Meeting of the OIC Islamic Universities (IUCM) and relevant OIC Institutions held on 16 January 2024, H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK met with H.E. Amb. Saleh Bin Hamad AL SUHAIBANI, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to the OIC.

The primary focus of the meeting was to explore and expand ongoing cooperation between SESRIC and national institutions of the KSA, with a focus on identifying potential areas of mutual interest.

During the meeting, H.E. SELÇUK emphasized that SESRIC has organised a total of 121 capacity-building activities for the benefit of public institutions of KSA. The Centre’s collaboration with the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) of KSA was cited particularly noteworthy, where collaboration has been smooth for the organisation of the 12^th Session of OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom) in Jeddah. The Session was attended by the Heads of National Statistical Offices (NSOs) from OIC member countries. OIC-StatCom is a very important forum within the OIC framework as it is the only statistical cooperation platform among the NSOs of the OIC member countries. It is an instrumental platform similar to the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC) aiming at supporting the National Statistical Systems (NSSs) in the member countries for the development of better national strategies and policies.

Following the discussions, H.E. Amb. Saleh Bin Hamad AL SUHAIBANI thanked H.E. SELÇUK for her visit and exchanged ideas for collaborating with SESRIC for joint events, projects, or studies.

The visit concluded on a positive note, reflecting the commitment of SESRIC and KSA to advanced collaborative initiatives.
