Within the framework of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-VET) and in line with the OIC-TVET Strategic Roadmap 2020-2025, SESRIC, with collaboration of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), organized a Training Course on “Setting Up a Supportive Policy Framework to Promote Youth and Women Entrepreneurship” on 9-10 January 2024 through an online video conferencing platform.

The training course was provided by competent experts from the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye, the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye, and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of the Republic of Türkiye for the benefit of the 95 experts and executives from the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) authorities and relevant national institutions of 24 OIC member countries.

The main objective of the training course was to share knowledge, experiences, and good practices regarding the strategies, policies, and programmes aimed at promoting youth and women’s entrepreneurship. In addition, the participants engaged in comprehensive discussions covering entrepreneurship, including, among others, business startups, access to finance, training, and networking.

As an initiative of SESRIC, the Vocational Education and Training Programme for the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-VET) was launched in 2009 at the COMCEC Economic Summit in Istanbul, Türkiye. The main aim of the programme is to enhance the quality of TVET systems in the OIC Member Countries, as well as to assist them in their efforts to overcome challenges and constraints in the TVET sector. Within the framework of the OIC-VET Programme and in line with its Strategic Roadmap for the years 2020-2025, SESRIC, in its capacity as the Executing OIC Organ of the Programme, initiates and implements various capacity-building training activities by facilitating the transfer and exchange of know-how, knowledge and experience among the national TVET institutions in the OIC Member Countries. These activities cover a diverse range of topics, including entrepreneurship skills development, and embrace a blended model of delivery approach by combining face-to-face and virtual for increased efficiency and flexibility.
