SESRIC attended the 21^st Meeting of the COMCEC Agriculture Working Group held with the theme of “Ensuring the Sustainability of Agricultural Inputs to Combat Food Insecurity in OIC Member Countries” on 12-13 October 2023 in Ankara, Republic of Türkiye.

The meeting brought together focal points from 10 OIC Member Countries that are members of the COMCEC Agriculture Working Group as well as the representatives of the OIC Institutions namely SESRIC, and the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS).

The technical sessions of the meeting included deliberations on the draft of the Report prepared with the theme “Ensuring the Sustainability of Agricultural Inputs to Combat Food Insecurity in OIC Member Countries: Scope, Conceptual Framework and Methodology”.

SESRIC has briefed the representatives of the working group about the reports and activities of the Centre on statistics, socio-economic research, training and technical cooperation which are conducted with an aim to reflecting the current stance of OIC countries in the field of agriculture and improving their national capacities in this regard. Besides, participating member countries and international institutions delivered presentations highlighting the lessons learned from selected case studies as well as experiences and perspectives on the theme of the meeting.

The meeting continued with the policy debate session among the participating delegates focusing on the formulation of policy recommendations for the 39th COMCEC Ministerial Session. A field trip was organised at the end of the meeting to Field Crops Central Research Institute under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye.
