The delegation of SESRIC headed by HE Mr. Nebil Dabur, Director General, and composed of Mr. Fadi Farasin, Assistant Director General; and Dr. Atilla Karaman, Director of Statistics and Information Department, participated in the 53^rd Session of UN Statistical Commission organised in a virtual-only format by the UN Statistics Division (UNSD) on 28 February - 4 March 2022.

The 53^rd Session discussed, among others, data and indicators for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development; data stewardship; regional statistical development; population and housing censuses; big data; open data; climate change statistics; informal economy statistics; and integration of statistical and geospatial information.

On the margins of the 53^rd Session, SESRIC organised the Follow-Up Meeting of the OIC-StatCom on 17 February 2022. Moderated by HE Mr. Nebil Dabur, the meeting was attended by 40 representatives from 26 OIC Member Countries, OIC General Secretariat, and Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB). The meeting covered the implementation of the resolutions of 10^th Session of OIC-StatCom, preparations for the 11^th Session of OIC-StatCom including composition of the new Bureau members, main agenda items, date and venue.

Before the start of main plenary session of the UNSC on 28 February 2022, SESRIC also attended several virtual side events including the Global Network of Institutions for Statistics Training (GIST) Annual Meeting on 8 February 2022, GIST Side-Event: “What makes a national statistical training program sustainable?” on 11 February 2022, and 39^th Session of the Committee for the Coordination of Statistical Activities (CCSA) on 25 February 2022.
