Webinar on ‘The Impact of COVID-19 on Elderly People and Persons with Disabilities in the OIC Member States’

SESRIC, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Disability and Elderly Services of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services of Republic of Turkey, organised a Webinar on “The Impact of COVID-19 on Elderly People and Persons with Disabilities in the OIC Member States” on 23 December 2020 at 11:00-12:30 (GMT+3). Senior level panellists representing relevant national institutions responsible for elderly people and persons with disabilities from Guinea, Morocco, Turkey and Uganda shed the light on the recent status of those vulnerable groups and the emerging challenges due to COVID-19 Pandemic in their respectful countries. Panel discussions included country experiences and best practices of the relevant Authorities in addition to national policies that helped in mitigating the obstacles faced in this important area during the Coronavirus pandemic.

During the Webinar, SESRIC made a presentation by providing insights on the state of elderly people and persons with disabilities in the OIC Member States. The presentation included statistics and data on those vulnerable groups and touched upon challenges and relevant OIC initiatives undertaken towards improving the status of elderly and persons with disabilities in the member countries.
