Training Course on ‘Integrated Water Resources Management’

Within the framework of SESRIC’s Water Resources Management Capacity Building Programme (Water-CaB), SESRIC organized a training course on “Integrated Water Resources Management” on 12-16 October 2020 for the benefit of participants from the Ministry of Water and Irrigation of Jordan.

The course was provided by competent experts from the North Lebanon Water Establishment of the Ministry of Energy and Water of Lebanon and Lebanese University.

The training course aimed to provide insights on how to analyse, formulate, and implement water policies, plans and programmes by using an Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) approach while taking into consideration challenges affecting water such as climate change, ecosystem, disasters, and scarcity.

The course mainly focused on the following subjects:

  • Concepts in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM)
  • IWRM: Challenges in Planning and Implementation
  • Water Governance
  • Water Demand Management
  • Water Balance Between Supply and Demand

The training course was designed in line with the virtual training solutions undertaken by SESRIC in order to better serve the Centre’s training activities and keep participants motivated and engaged during this difficult time of the global crisis due to COVID-19 pandemic.
