SESRIC and UNOSSC Launched the Joint Report on ‘South-South in Action: Transforming Potentials into Shared Prosperity’

SESRIC and UNOSSC launched the joint report on ‘South-South in Action: Transforming Potentials into Shared Prosperity’ during a side event of the United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation, on 15 September 2020 at 04:00 pm-5:30 pm Istanbul time (GMT +3).

The event featured opening remarks from H.E. Mr. Jorge Chediek, Director and Envoy of the Secretary-General on South-South Cooperation and H. E. Mr. Nebil Dabur, Director General of SESRIC in addition to presentations from experts from SESRIC on the role of SESRIC in supporting the implementation of the global development agenda and the OIC-2025 Programme of Action through utilizing South-South Cooperation modalities.

This joint publication celebrates SESRIC’s accumulated experience over the last four decades and provides new insights into the field of South-South Cooperation. The report presents selected programs and best practices initiated by SESRIC in line with its triadic mandate in the domain of statistics, research and training to support and enhance socio-economic development in OIC member countries. In recognizing the value of this publication, the Director and Envoy of the Secretary-General on South-South Cooperation, Mr. Chediek, applauded SESRIC’s contributions to establishing institutional infrastructure that promotes the development and South-South Cooperation amongst OIC member countries.

SESRIC’s wide range of programmes and activities have advertently supported South-South cooperation and sustainable development efforts since its inception. In the future, ‘SESRIC will continue to invest efforts aimed at enhancing the momentum of South-South cooperation towards attaining sustainable development in the OIC member countries’ as reaffirmed by Mr. Dabur. Similarly, Mr. Chediek, assured SESRIC of UNOSSC’s continued commitment and partnership in the future to further the global development agenda using South-South Cooperation.

This virtual launch event was attended by high-level representatives from OIC member countries, OIC institutions, UN agencies, other development partners, and media.
