The Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) and the OIC General Secretariat jointly organized the “International Workshop on Sustainable Cities: Issues and Challenges of Rapid Urbanization” on 28-29 January, in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The workshop provided a platform for the experts and academics to discuss and debate the urbanization process and highlight opportunities and challenges for sustainable urbanization in the OIC Member States. The SESRIC contributed to the workshop by presenting the main findings of the Centre’s new report titled “Urban Development in OIC Countries: Towards Sustainable Urbanization”, which explores urbanization trends and examines what OIC urban landscape looks like today.
