SESRIC organized a Study Visit on ‘Classifications’ for the benefit of two delegates from the Directorate of National Statistics (DNS) under the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The visit took place on 26-27 February 2019 in Serrekunda, Republic of The Gambia, and hosted by the Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBOS).

The visit was held within the framework of the OIC Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme and aimed to strengthen the cooperation between the two institutions in the field of economic statistics classifications.

The purpose was also to exchange knowledge on the classification of the harmonized system in merchandise trade statistics, classification of individual consumption by purpose (COICOP), cooperative patent classification (CPC), as well as industrial classification in line with ISIC Rev. 4 among others.
