In accordance with its 2014 Annual Work Plan, SESRIC organised the Training Programme on 'Data Dissemination and Data Warehousing' at the State Statistical Committee (SSC) in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan on 11-13 August 2014, within the framework of the Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme. The Course was provided by Mrs. Medine Akyıldız, Statistics Expert at Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) with participation of relevant officials of SSC.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009), Data Dissemination and data warehousing includes, topics like policies, strategies, methods and techniques of data dissemination, design and organization of output databases and data warehouses, including feedback from users, communicating with the media, work of NSO press offices, data and metadata presentation, electronic dissemination (Internet), statistical portals. The subject area “Data Dissemination and Data Warehousing’” is currently classified under the “Methodology of data collection, processing, dissemination and analysis” domain.

The training course on “Data Dissemination and Data Warehousing” included discussion activities and covered the following topics:

• Data Warehouse Concepts
• ETL Process
• Data Mining
• Data Process and Data Warehousing in TurkStat
• Central Dissemination System (MEDAS)
