Impacts of Trade Facilitation and Logistics Performance on Trade Flows: The Case of Landlocked African OIC Countries

SESRIC and International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB) conducted this joint research study to assess the potential impacts of trade facilitation measures on intra-AfCFTA trade flows in five landlocked African OIC Member Countries, namely Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Niger and Uganda. The study employs a diverse set of data and rigorous methodology to investigate gains from trade facilitation and improved logistics infrastructure in these selected countries by simulating an improvement in their index scores to the African and/or world average.

Investment Outlook in the OIC Countries

SESRIC and the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), a member of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, jointly prepared this outlook report in line with the recommendations of the 44th Session of the Islamic Commission for Economic, Cultural and Social Affairs (ICECS), which was held on 11-13 January 2022 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

SESRIC launched and presented its flagship report on “State of Youth in the OIC Member States 2022” during the 5th Session of the Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers (ICYSM), which was held on 07-09 September 2022 in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

SESRIC released the 2021 edition of its Statistical Yearbook on OIC Member Countries on 10 May 2022.

OIC Environment Report 2021

The OIC Environment Report 2021 provides a comprehensive analysis of current state and challenges of the environment sector in OIC member countries by using a wide range of the most recent available statistics. This edition of the report also evaluates OIC member countries' progress toward meeting environment-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Paris Agreement commitments.

South-South Cooperation and the Gender Equality Factor in the Emerging Multilateralism

SESRIC, in cooperation with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), published a thematic paper on “South-South Cooperation and the Gender Equality Factor in the Emerging Multilateralism”. The paper highlights the potential of South-South cooperation (SSC) in catalysing efforts towards the recognition of women’s role in sustainable development and the achievement of gender equality in the Global South.

SESRIC has released the report on “Halal Industry in OIC Member Countries: Challenges and Prospects” which presents a comprehensive analysis of the state of the Halal industry in OIC member countries as well as identifies major challenges and prospects in order to draw the attention of policymakers.

State of Elderly in OIC Member Countries 2021

SESRIC prepared the report on “State of Elderly in OIC Member Countries 2021” as a technical background document for the 2nd OIC Ministerial Conference on Social Development. This report thoroughly examines the state of the elderly in OIC countries by looking into the latest available data and information on labour market and economic integration, health and wellbeing, supportive environment, and culture as stipulated in the OIC Strategy on the Elderly. The report also provides a number of success stories and best practices to highlight the experiences of selected OIC member countries towards improving the overall state of the elderly and mitigating the impacts of COVID-19 on them.
