Brainstorming Session on the Transfer of Knowledge and Expertise in the Field of Science &Technology among the OIC Member Countries

The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) has hosted the Brainstorming Session on the Transfer of Knowledge and Expertise in the Field of Science &Technology among the OIC Member Countries, on 09 January 2014 in Ankara, Turkey, at its headquarters.

The aim of the brainstorming session was to discuss the possibilities and modalities of transferring knowledge and expertise in the field of science and technology, and to develop new concrete, feasible and practical proposals for increasing and enhancing cooperation in the field of science and technology among the OIC Member Countries.

The session was the first of a series of brainstorming sessions and brought together experts and managers from the Centre for Innovation and Technology Cooperation (CITC) of the Islamic Republic of Iran, SESRIC, Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group, OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) as well as D-8 Technology Transfer & Exchange Network (TTEN).

Inspired by the agreements reached, the participants decided to identify suitable technologies available for transfer among OIC Member Countries through a common methodology, which will be verified by COMSTECH. The meeting also decided to showcase the selected technologies during the technology exchange exhibition to be jointly organised by the IDB, COMSTECH, SESRIC, and TTEN parallel to the IDB Annual Meeting to be tentatively held in June 2014 in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
