OIC-VET Portal Launched
Date: 17 February 2010

The OIC-VET Portal has been launched following the official inauguration of the Vocational Education and Training Programme for the OIC Member Countries (OIC-VET Programme) by H.E. Abdullah Gül, President of Turkey and Chairman of COMCEC, during the COMCEC Economic Summit, held in Istanbul on 9 November 2009, with the presence of the heads of states and governments of the OIC Member Countries.

The main objective of OIC-VET Portal is to provide the necessary information and guidance for both national focal points and potential beneficiaries, and to facilitate the coordination of activities for the promotion and implementation of the OIC-VET Programme. It also aims to facilitate the flow of information among the national focal points to enable them to exchange information, share their experience and best practices, and demonstrate their activities, projects and programmes online in the field of VET.

OIC-VET Portal includes detailed information on the implementation mechanism of the OIC-VET Programme, contact information of national focal points, OIC-VET Partners Database, latest news and announcements on activities related to the Programme.

The Portal has been developed in pursuance of the decision of the First Meeting of the Monitoring and Advisory Committee of the OIC-VET Programme held in Izmir, on 13 May 2009, as a virtual platform not only to promote cooperation among the national focal points, but also to assist decision makers to focus on the needs of their citizens when providing the needed expertise as well as funding for projects that will help attain the objectives of the OIC-VET Programme.
