 Since its inception in 1978, the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) has been making serious efforts and developing various methodologies for collecting, collating, processing and disseminating comprehensive and up-to-date socio-economic statistics and information on and for the utilisation of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). In so doing, the Centre devotes a large portion of its resources to providing the necessary statistical data and background information that would enhance the level and quality of technical cooperation activities among the Member Countries.
To fulfil this specific task at the highest possible level, the Centre publishes various statistical volumes and series in hard copies and also provides access to them on its website. Among these, the booklet Basic Facts and Figures on OIC Member Countries provides data on a set of major socio-economic indicators for all the fifty-seven OIC Member Countries. The data in this booklet are mainly obtained from the Centre’s main database “BASEIND”, which includes comprehensive and up-to-date time series data on various socio-economic indicators for the fifty-seven OIC Member Countries.
We hope that users will find this handy booklet useful and look forward to receiving their feedback to help us improve its quality as well as that of all our other statistical publications.
