Training Course on 'Construction Statistics' in Yemen

In accordance with its 2014 Annual Work Plan, SESRIC organised the Training Course on 'Construction Statistics' at the Central Statistical Organization (CSO) in Sana’a, Republic of Yemen on 24-26 March 2014 within the framework of the Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme. The course was provided by Mr. Bünyamin Emirosman, Head of Short Term Business Statistics at Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) with participation of relevant officials of Central Statistical Organization (CSO) of Yemen.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009), construction statistics allow to assess the use and impact of specific industrial activities, e.g. steel, shipbuilding, and on construction, trade in specific products related to construction. The subject area “Construction Statistics’” is currently classified under the “Sectoral Statistics”, an activities category under the “Economic Statistics” domain.

The training course on 'Construction Statistics' covered the following topics:

  • Business registers
  • Structural business statistics-construction sector
  • Construction labour input indicators
  • Construction production index
  • Construction cost index
