Training Course on 'Competition Law and Policy' in Bangladesh

Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) organised, in collaboration with the Competition Authority of the Republic of Turkey, a training course on “Competition Law and Policy” within the framework of the OIC Capacity Building Programme for Competition Authorities (OIC-CA-CaB) on 28-30 June 2013 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The course was attended by the senior officials of Government of Bangladesh and representatives from private sector and the Institute for Policy, Advocacy and Governance (IPAG).

The training course on “Competition Law and Policy” mainly covered the following subjects;

  1. Basics of Competition Law
  2. Compliance
  3. Competition Assessment practices
  4. Competition law enforcement in regulated markets
  5. Private enforcement of competition rules
  6. Competition advocacy
  7. Cartels/Horizontal and Vertical Agreements
  8. Abuse of dominant position
  9. Mergers and acquisitions
