Meeting of Organization of the Islamic Shipowners’ Association

The 34th Meeting of the Executive Committe and the 26th Meeting of the General Assembly of the Organization of the Islamic Shipowners’ Association (OISA) was held on 21 November 2012 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The delegates from various national shipping and transportation authorities of Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sudan and Turkey as well as the representatives of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of Islamic Countries (COMCEC), Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA), International Islamic Organization for Education, Science and Culture. (ISESCO) attended the meeting. SESRIC was represented by Mrs. Zehra Zümrüt Selcuk, Researcher, thereat.

The meeting was inaugurated with the opening speech of H.E. Mr. Mohamed Shawky El-Sayed Hussein Younes, the Chairman of the Executive Committee. Dr. Abdullatif A. Bin Sultan, Secretary General of OISA, mentioned about the gift of custodian of two holy mosques and the donation from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia OISA and briefed the participants about the OISA in general.

Along with SESRIC, the representatives of Organisation of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries, Turkish Shipbuilders Association, ICCIA, SeaTrade and Pakistan National Shipping Corporation delivered presentations. Mrs. Selçuk gave an overview about the Current Situation of Transportation Networks in the OIC Member Countries and emphasized the importance of all modes of transportation for improving the economies of member countries, especially for enhancing trade and tourism.
