The Fifth World Islamic Economic Forum on “Global Food and Energy Security” was held in Jakarta, Indonesia on 1-4 March 2009. Dr. Savaş Alpay, Director General of SESRIC, participated in the Forum.

The Forum mainly focused on the security and sustainability of global food and energy production. The ways of stemming the tide of the global financial crisis were also discussed.

At the end of the Forum the delegates announced “The Jakarta Declaration” which includes recommendations on various issues such as “Overcoming Global Financial Crisis”, “Food Security”, “Energy Security” and “Global SME’s”.
