Statistics Course on ‘Tourism Statistics’ in Brunei Darussalam

In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Statistics Course on ‘Tourism Statistics’ at the Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE) of Brunei Darussalam on 4-6 December 2018.

The Statistics Course was conducted by Mr. Rifa RUFIADI, Deputy Director for Tourism Statistics at the BPS-Statistics Indonesia, with the participation of relevant officials of the JPKE of Brunei Darussalam.

The Statistics Course on ‘Tourism Statistics’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

  • Overview of international recommendations for tourism statistics, 2008
  • Overview of the compilation guide for tourism expenditure and receipts
  • Data compilation: measuring tourism expenditure and receipts
  • Overview of the compilation guide for tourism supply and demand side
  • Measuring flows of international and domestic visitors
  • Practices of data collection using administrative data and survey
  • Understanding tourism in its relationship with other macroeconomic frameworks
