OIC to hold an extraordinary Summit in Istanbul to discuss the Israeli violence in Gaza
Date: 18 May 2018
Venue: Istanbul - Türkiye

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold an extraordinary Summit in Istanbul, Turkey on 18 May 2018 to discuss the recent Israeli violence against unarmed Palestinian protesters in Gaza. The summit is being convened at the invitation of the Turkish President, HE Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The summit will be held at the level of heads of states of the OIC Member Countries and will discuss the position and steps of Muslim countries to defend the cause of Palestine and Jerusalem through cooperation and solidarity with the Palestinian State and its people.

In a statement published early this week, OIC strongly condemned the Israeli aggression against Palestinian civilians during their participation in peaceful protests on the 70th anniversary of the Nakba “The Catastrophe”, expressing their rejection of the US decision to transfer its embassy to the occupied Quds.

Over 60 Palestinians were killed by the Israelis while thousands were brutally injured for protesting the illegal relocation of the US embassy to Al Quds Al Sharif (Jerusalem) from Tel Aviv.
