Training Course on ‘Population and Migration Statistics’ in Iran

In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Training Course on ‘Population and Migration Statistics’ at Statistical Centre of Iran (SCI) on 7 – 9 August 2017.

The Training Course was conducted by Ms. Diah IKAWATI, Expert from BPS-Statistics Indonesia, with the participation of relevant officials of the SCI.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Population and migration – includes work in population and demographic statistics, topics like demography, vital statistics, population structures and growth, demographic projections, families and households (marriages, divorces, household size), migration, refugees and asylum seekers.

The Training Course on ‘Population and Migration Statistics’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

  • Population Statistics
  • Population Density
  • Population Parameter
  • UN recommendation on colleting migration data
  • Data Sources
  • Internal and International Migration
  • Migration data from census vs administrative record
