SESRIC Attended to the 21st Conference of the Islamic World Academy of Sciences

The Islamic World Academy of Sciences (IAS) in collaboration with the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) and Necmettin Erbakan University organized the 21st Conference of the IAS with the theme “Science, Technology and Innovation for Global Peace and Security” on 8-11 October 2017 in Konya, Republic of Turkey. HE Amb. Musa KULAKLIKAYA, Director General, and Dr. Atilla KARAMAN, Researcher, represented the Centre thereat.

HE Amb. Musa KULAKLIKAYA, Director General of SESRIC, delivered a presentation titled “Research and Scientific Development in OIC Countries” during the session “Innovation: The Quantitive and Qualitative Elements”. The presentation covered the overall research and development (R&D) situation of OIC Countries with respect to human resources, expenditures and sources of funds, patents, scientific publications, capacity for innovation, and high-technology exports.

The underlying objective of the event is to establish a framework for the development of science and technology in the Islamic World by facilitating interaction among scientists and promoting the exchange of views and ideas on science and technology issues.

Launched in 1986, the Islamic World Academy of Sciences (IAS) is an autonomous international non-governmental organization that plays the role of ‘science advisor/advocate’ of the member-countries of the Organization of Islamic Co-operation (OIC).
