Training Course on ‘Business Surveys’ in Suriname

In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Training Course on ‘Business Surveys’ at the General Bureau of Statistics (GBS) of Republic of Suriname on 5 – 6 October 2017.

The Training Course was conducted by Mr. Can DOĞAN, Expert at the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), with the participation of 17 officials of the GBS of Republic of Suriname.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Business surveys includes methodology and organization of business and surveys, including sampling, and international surveys with direct data collection from businesses.

The Training Course on ‘Business Surveys’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

  • Statistical Units and Non-Statistical in Statistical Business Registers (SBR)
  • Scope, Classifications and Variables in SBR
  • Data Sources of SBR
  • Data Processing for a Business Registers System (Turkish Experience)
  • General Framework (Turkish Experience)
  • Maintenance of SBR
  • Data Sources of SBR
  • Users of SBR
  • SBR related studies (Business Demography and Enterprise Groups)
