Training Course on “Agricultural Censuses” in Tunisia

In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Training Course on ‘Agricultural Censuses’ at the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resource and Fisheries of Republic of Tunisia on 2-4 May 2017.

The Training Course was conducted by Mr. Fuad Ahmad Abdalrahman IRTEIMEH, Director of Agriculture Statistics of Department of Statistics (DOS) of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with the participation of 20 officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resource and Fisheries of Republic of Tunisia.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Agricultural censuses includes methodology and organisation of economic and agricultural censuses.

The Training Course on ‘Agricultural Censuses’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

  • Overview of Agricultural Statistics
  • Agricultural Census (Definition and Goals)
  • Agricultural Census Item (Enumeration Form)
  • The Stages of Implementing the Census
  • The Timeline for Implementing the Census
  • Agricultural Census Committee
  • Organisational Structure of the Census
  • Agricultural Surveys
