Training Course on ‘Gender Statistics’ in Bangladesh

In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC has organised the Training Course on ‘Gender Statistics’ at the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) on 29-31 January 2017.

The Training Course was conducted by Ms. Hasnani Rangkuti, Head of Section Evaluation and Report of Household Statistics of BPS-Statistics Indonesia, with the participation of relevant officials of the BBS.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Gender and Special Population Groups – covered the living conditions and role in the society: comparison men/women and situation of special population groups such as children, youth, women, elderly, disabled, minority groups, etc.

The Training Course on ‘Gender Statistics’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

  • Basic Gender Statistics
  • Importance of Demographic Indicators for Gender Analysis
  • Gender and Economy Activity
  • Gender Concerns in Education
  • Gender and Health
  • Gender and Decision-making
  • Sustainable Development Goal 5 and other Related Gender
