Training Course on 'Geographic Information Systems (GIS)' in Tunisia

In accordance with its 2015 Annual Work Plan, SESRIC organised the training course on 'Geographic Information Systems (GIS)' at the National Institute of Statistics (NIS) of Tunisia on 7-9 September 2015, within the framework of the Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme. The course was conducted by Mrs. Amal Mohamed El Sharnoby, Expert at the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) of the Arab Republic of Egypt with participation of relevant officials of NIS.

The training course on 'Geographic Information Systems (GIS)' focused on the following topics:

  • Map Editing & Map Composition
    • Advanced Editing
    • Advanced Layout (Atlas & Posters)
  • GIS Spatial Analysis
    • Network Analysis
    • Statistical Analysis
  • The use of geographic information in the census of population and facilities systems
    • 2006 Census methodology and the 2016 Census using geographic information systems
    • Linking the census data maps buildings
    • Linking the census data at the level of the building
