Training Course on 'Agricultural Surveys' in Bangladesh

Venue: Dhaka - Bangladesh

In accordance with its 2015 Annual Work Plan, SESRIC organised the training course on 'Agricultural Surveys' at the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) on 25-27 August 2015, within the framework of the Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme. The course was conducted by Mr. Arap Diri, Expert at the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) with participation of relevant officials of BBS.

As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009); Agricultural Surveys – a statistical activity category under the Methodology of data collection, processing, dissemination and analysis – covers methodology and organization of agricultural surveys, including sampling, and international surveys with direct data collection from farmers.

The training course on 'Agricultural Surveys' focused on the following topics:

  • Crops Statistics (area, production and yield etc.)
    • Method of Data Collection
    • Administrative Data
    • Organization of Survey, Samples etc.
    • Analysing of Data
    • Harmonization of Data
    • Dissemination
  • Livestock Statistics
  • Fishery Statistics
  • Cost of Production Survey (Crop)
  • Land-use Statistics
