Halal Food Industry Development Symposium

Halal Food Industry Symposium was organized on 11 November 2014 as a specialized programme under the 9th Dubai International Food Safety Conference (DIFSC) held in Dubai, UAE.

Halal food products specifications have become increasingly under spotlight and popular among Muslims and non-Muslims worldwide, as the concept of Halal is associated with what is good, healthy, safe and high quality food. In this regard, the Symposium aimed to introduce the developments ongoing in the Halal food business and whole Halal system infrastructure, Halal food safety international recognition and accreditation requirements.

Panelists and speakers including Mrs. Zehra Zumrut Selcuk from SESRIC highlighted the progress achieved so far and introduced new achievements in the Halal food industry in UAE, region and worldwide. The main topics that were presented are:

  • Overview about the OIC and World Halal industry in terms of statistics,
  • New options and solutions for producing Halal gelatin for food manufacturing,
  • Integrated Global Halal accreditation system for transparency and Muslims trust.
